Formula One racing in South Africa set to debut in 2024?

    September 13, 2022No Comments1 Min Read

The parties participating in the idea for a Formula One race in South Africa’s Kyalami circuit have been unable to achieve an agreement for 2023, but there will definitely be a race in South Africa in 2024.

MSA President Anthony Ru has affirmed the following on behalf of the country’s racing community: “Formula One could not visit our country in 2023 since the local organizer could not give sufficient financial backing.

The FIA, Formula One, and the MSA have no responsibility for the difficulties that have arisen due solely to the incompetence of the local organizer. We must now replace the regional coordinator. That the PAR GP will be on the 2024 calendar is a certainty.”

Former Formula One racer and driver Warren Scheckter, who competed on the FIA Formula One team in 1979, now serves as the CEO of the South African Grand Prix Company, the local organizer that Mr. Ru mentioned.

However, Scheckter himself refused to comment on the remark, citing confidentiality concerns around the negotiations.
