    F1 Driver – Scott Speed

With a surname like Speed, you can’t have a surname like Speed. With a name like Speed, it’s hard to imagine anyone being anything but a racer. And Scott Speed is just that.

Starting his career in karting (1993), Speed was a national event winner within two years and won many more events and championships over the next six seasons.

In 2001, Scott began racing cars, competing in Russell Racing where he won the championship, then in Barber Dodge and Formula Mazda.

In 2002, Scott was selected to be part of Red Bull’s American driver search programme. This helped him to make his debut in the British F-3 Championship the following year.

In 2004, the American climbed even higher, becoming German Formula Renault and Formula Renault Eurocup Champion. At the same time, Scott was already testing in the IRL series in the USA for Red Bull Cheever Racing.

However, he didn’t return home, but stayed in Europe, where he showed his skills in the GP2 (formerly F-3000) championship, finishing as the third driver of Red Bull’s F-1 team for several rounds.

This year, Scott is making his debut in Formula One. He will drive for Red Bull’s “sister” team Toro Rosso.
