    F1 Driver – Robert Doornbos

Like all his colleagues, Dutchman Robert Doornbos started his journey to Formula One in karting.

In 1999, Robert was runner-up in the Opel Lotus UK Winter Series. He took four wins, four starts from pole position and the same number of fastest laps.

The following year, Doornbos raced in the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg (Benelux) Formula Ford championships and was Belgian vice-champion.

In 2001, the Dutchman was given the opportunity to race in the UK F-3, where he took two wins and two starts from pole position. A year later, Robert competed in the prestigious German F-3 Championship, where he finished on the podium four times and finished sixth in the Macau GP.

In 2003 Dorrnbos competed in the European F-3, where he was on the podium seven times, and started from pole position in the Spa F-3 Masters.

In 2004 Robert was third in the International F-3000 championship and was awarded the best newcomer of the season award. He won the race at Spa, was on the podium four times and once completed the fastest lap of the race. At the same time, Robert was a Jordan driver-applicant.

This year, the Dutchman has been working for Jordan, piloting the yellow car on Fridays, and from the German GP onwards, Robert will be behind the wheel of the Minardi car.
