Kobayashi won the Italian Formula Renault championship in 2005 and finished fourth in the 2007 European Formula 3 series.

The Japanese driver won the GP2 Asian championship in 2008-2009, and the GP2 Asian championship in the regular season in 2009.

    2009

Kobayashi makes his Formula One debut at the end of the season, replacing the injured Timo Glock in the Toyota car for the 2nd and final race of the championship. He finishes ninth in the Brazilian GP and sixth in the Abu Dhabi GP, scoring 3 points.

    2010

When Toyota decides to retire from Formula One, K. Kobayashi is recruited by Sauber. And it seems he’s not wrong – the Japanese is getting good results and, more importantly, he’s attracting a lot of fans with his excellent overtaking manoeuvres.

    2011

Kobayashi’s best result is 5th at Monaco. He finishes 12th in the overall championship standings with 30 points.

    2012

For the first time in his Formula One career, the driver reaches the podium, finishing 3rd in the Japanese GP. Kobayashi scores 60 points in the championship, but does not rise above 12th in the final standings.

    2014

The driver returns to Formula One after a year’s break, representing Caterham.
